full marathon again, PBIM 2013

Last year was the first time I ran full marathon and it was during the Penang Bridge International Marathon 2012, with a distance of 42.195km. It was a pain in the arse attempting to run that far without trainings at all! I couldn’t walk for days. I only managed to complete about 35km in the 7hrs qualifying time. But it was a great experience. All this while, I joined and completed 10km runs, then half marathon in 2011 until I koyak in full marathon last year.

About 5hrs from now, I’ll be standing at the starting point with tens of thousands runners in the same event and same category again. Crazy I know! I am stubborn but I am determined to finish the unaccomplished race. It’ll be an uphill task.

Yesterday I had diarrhea and nausea. Went to see doctor but stomach is still in pain.

How to even run later? Yes it crossed my mind to just pull out, use that lausai as an excuse. But damn! It’ll be so lame. Even a handicapped man ran last year! A sea of fear in me right now. Heart is thumping fast. I am so damn nervous right now.

I’ll wear a shoe later. I took my shoes in the middle of Penang Bridge while running back to the starting point. I’ve bought power gel and some chocolates too, to eat during the run. I get sleepy easily, lack of oxygen and sugar I guess. I'm not going to carry my DSLR and run later, as I did last year.

I know I won’t be able to complete the run in 7hrs. But then it’s possible lah. I’ve made some calculation. If I can maintain running for at least 100.2meter in 1minute, I can finish the run on time. I’ve timed myself, I achieved 900meter in 5minute. But to continue running for 7hrs, dream on.

I believe mind conquers all. You can do it. Yes you can. Push yourselves to the limits. That’s how people emerged stronger. It’s all about your mind. Never give up! Many people will be skeptical and look down on you but it’s ok. You do it for yourselves.

My aim this year? To run. And to run further than my previous records during the stipulated time.

Run! I will run! Run until I can’t run anymore. This will be the race of the year, the one and only marathon I joined.

All the best to all runners. See ya! If you see me walking, ask me to run.

Go out early because it’ll be jam everywhere and many roads will be closed.

Since there’s still time, let’s take a nap and spend some precious time in the toilet. =p

Full Marathon? I MADE IT!

I am not showing off. But I want the world and those who feel like giving up to know that hey, I never train before and hey it’s my first time running Full Marathon. But hey although knowing and expecting that I might faint on the bridge, I did not quit even before the race day. I ran, I jogged, I walked, I sat, I squat, I laid on the bridge, I was barefooted, I kneeled down in pain and I did whatever shit I can to complete the race. Not for a second I stop and give up on myself. Until the very last second of qualifying time of 7-hour, I was still waking until the sweeper bus asked us to get in. And I stopped the bus at the last 1km. Then slowly in great pain, I walked to the the finishing line. I made it. I failed to complete 42.195km but I did 34km++. If you don’t believe in yourselves, no one else would. It’s all about your mind and heart. For those who give up even before you give anything a try, you are going no where. MARK MY WORDS!

CONFIRMED! free Baskin Robbins!

An official announcement was released just a while ago after our Pocket Rocket Man, Azizulhasni Awang lost in the Final of Men’s Keirin Olympic London 2012 and got number 6th in the race.

The announcement was posted in Media Prima’s TV stations NTV7 and 8TV facebook accounts.

SO PEOPLE YOU’LL HAVE FREE BASKIN ROBBINS TOMORROW. TAKE YOUR OWN SWEET TIME TO QUEUE UP YA. GO FEW HOURS EARLIER. HAPPY WORKING TO THE MEDIA PEOPLE TOO. AND LET’S ENJOY TRAFFIC CONGESTION NEAR THE OUTLETS.

It must be an expensive investment by Media Prima and Baskin Robbins. But nvmla it can boost your image. And you awarding our athletes efforts and determination in your own way.

People are happy with it.

Anyway Azizul, you still made us proud and happy for your achievement. You are still a finalist, an Olympian, the 6th fastest in the world, the best in Asia, and definitely Number One in Malaysia.

Free Baskin Robbins ice-cream?

When some people are grieving for the loss of gold in the badminton men’s single by Datuk Lee Chong Wei, some other people are hoo-haa-ing about free ice cream.

Who says Baskin Robbins is giving out free ice-cream tomorrow? There are terms and conditions la people. You read and see. You click this link and see. http://www.ntv7.com.my/7edition/sport-en/ICE.html Or try you read the so-called announcement from the company. Or read it here from a news portal and analyse urself. http://www.malaysiandigest.com/news/81382-baskin-robbins-free-ice-cream-deal-still-on-despite-chong-weis-loss.html

I think people are getting the wrong message. They say there’ll be free ice-cream if only any of our Malaysian athletes come back with a gold medal in Olympic London, and not particularly Lee Chong Wei. Show me where’s the announcement that says they will be giving out free ice-cream tomorrow. Where?

So is it me that duno how to read, see or listen to the news? Eh or is it I’ve read it wrongly. Correct me please.

Anyway People tend to re-post what they see without checking the facts har? Check the facts even if it’s from the news agencies or portals.

It’ll be a disaster if everyone swarms to Baskin Robbins, wait few hours and go back with anger. Baskin or Robbins, you better clarify this. I know it’s a good publicity stint but..

IF REALLY GOT FREE ICE CREAM, PEOPLE WILL COMPLAIN IF ICE CREAM FINISH OR IF THEY QUEUE UP SO LONG BUT NEVER GET INTO THE SHOP IN TIME. IF STILL NO GOLD, THERE'LL BE NO ICE CREAM AND PEOPLE WILL BOYCOTT BASKIN ROBBINS FOR LYING.

Seriously no free lunch in the world. If you want something, you better work your ass to get it. Life is fair. You get what you deserved. Not by begging, bodekking, or waiting for FREE stuff.

People, pay for your own Baskin Robbins. Lee Chong Wei, you won a silver, I am happy. Come let me give you a treat by having good street food in Penang. How’s that? I can be your tour guide in Penang too. =p

Belief - Malaysian Olympic team PSA by Samsung

"Belief is a powerful thing. It never lets you quit."

You see the words, you watch the video, tell me how to not be touched? good lah u Ah Sam.

This is the latest public service announcement by Samsung on TV.

It is made specially for our Malaysia Olympic team.

What makes it stand out is that it is so inspiring and motivating.

It touches my heart that I’m now inclined to get a Samsung smartphone instead of HTC.

Oh no media influence.

All England 2012, Lee Chong Wei conceded a walkover to Lin Dan

2012 All England Open Badminton Championship has just ended. It was about 1.20am in the morning at Malaysian time.

hmmm.. sad ending isn't it?

Datuk Lee Chong Wei (LCW) conceded a walkover to Lin Dan in the Men’s Single due to shoulder injury. The score was 19-21, 2-6.

However, LCW he gave his best. It's a wise move to do that, if not the Olympic dream might be shattered. Lin Dan said the injury won’t affect LCW too much because they will meet again in Olympic games this year.

It’s a warm scene that both athletes exchanged jersey. I feel Lin Dan wasn’t being arrogant tonight. The supporters especially Malaysians were so hyped up and supportive.

No one expected this ending. But sometimes things are out of our control. Things don’t go the way we wanted it to be. The saddest person in the world today is none other than the world number 1 badminton player, LCW.

So no condemnation pls. at least he played as a Malaysian, representing Malaysia. He showed great sportsmanship n fighting spirit.

What moved me is LCW brought all of us together through sports. We were watching not a Chinese, Indian or Malay in that match, but a Malaysian who’s fighting for a championship for us. Tonight, the nation is united again.

Win or lose, I always support Malaysia!

David Goggins inspires..

David Goggins sleeps three hours a night. He has a resting heart rate of 32 beats per minute. He wakes up at 3.a.m. and runs 15 to 20 miles. He commutes 25 miles to work by bicycle. He is the only person to complete Navy SEALS “Hell Week” three times. He is the only person to complete Tactical Air Control, SEAL and Army Ranger training. With no special training, David Goggins ran 100 miles in 18 hours. In finishing that race, in 2006, he suffered stress fractures in his feet and shins, urinated blood and lost control of his bowels. David Goggins completed 10 100-mile races in 2007. He finished third at the 2007 Badwater, a 135-mile trek through Death Valley known as “The World’s Toughest Footrace.” He once ran 203.5 miles in 48 hours.

"With the Special Ops Warrior Foundation's help, we put 266 kids through college last year. And that's what keeps me going. I'll be honest, I don't like running. I don't like biking. I don't like swimming. I do it to raise money. But, now that I'm in this sport, I want to see how far I can push myself. What makes me tick is that pain you feel when you do these ultramarathons. I love knowing that everyone's suffering because I know I can suffer just a little bit more. I can take a lot of pain."

quote of the day

It does not matter how long you took to finish a run as long as you completed it.

Run OCE Run

Wohooo!

I am so kuailan to dig my own grave.

I didn't exercise for so long but tomorrow i'm going for a 7KM Trekathon at Taman Botani Negara, Shah Alam. It’s organized by my uni. Since this is my last semester already, I just go and have fun la.

It's my first time to run in KL.

Next week I’ll go for 21km Penang Bridge Run.

I am crazy I know. Seriously I feel like smack my head for registering 21KM Penang Bridge Marathon. I never run for such a long distance before. The most is 10KM.

I was in dilemma whether to run 10KM or 21KM. At the end I chose 21KM. I want to challenge myself. I have never done it before and I want to do it. I want to achieve something that i know it’s hard to achieve. I know that the decisions I make always come with a heavy price, but I still want to do it. The hardest it is, the happier I am. If I don’t do it now, I might not able to do next year. I believe that as we grow older, we will be less adventurous. We will be less brave.

That’s why I am always that crazy, do the things that majority of the people don’t do.  Haha.

Baguslah! Tolong sediakan paramedic for the run. I might need it. Tq.

I remember when I was small during primary school time, I always want to join marathon. When I reached the qualifying age at bout 12, I started to run until I was 17. In one year, I joined about 5 runs and i love to collect the participation certificate. But as I grown up, I slow down. And after my high school, I seldom join any run anymore. Lazy..

Tapi saya masih suka aktiviti lasak. I’m born for adventurous and challenging activity. I kecik-kecik tapi kuat jugak tau.

Running is actually a very miraculous thing when you can sweat out all your tense and stress.

I love running but my stamina is not that strong.

Strength does not come from your feet but your mind.

Kalau hati dan minda kuat, kaki pun akan kuat.

Kekuatan kita bukan terletak pada anggota badan tapi hati.

It’s ok I will complete the run tomorrow and I will never finish last!

I will wake up earlier to warm up.. last minute warm up.

USH!

OCE bokiasi!

I run when i have to run and i want to run like Forrest Gump.

Run OCE run!

"lu mai knua wa san-san cit ki kut. wa holiao lu knua beh chut!"

Quote from Miss Lydia Yeow: gaya masa berlari. mutu nampak dar kasut pelari. keunggulan gua rasa boleh nampak masa masuk ambulance

Manny Pacquiao the destroyer!

My jaw drops watching Manny Pacquiao in action.

He’s one of the very best boxer I’ve ever seen.

His punch is too powerful. He moves like wind. He’s just too fast to be defended.

He’s good in what he’s doing. He worked hard to achieve what he has today.

Wow! I’m inspired!

Starwalk Penang 2011

Ok.. let’s see what to write for this post. Just a very short one la since I’m still very tired from the walk this morning. I slept after I reached home but I’m still very sleepy now.

I never missed Starwalk ever since I’m eligible to join it about 8 years ago I guess. When I first started taking part, the walk was held in the town, start from the Esplanade. Then they shift it to Bayan Lepas area where The Star HQ was located.

This year, in commemoration to The Star’s 40th Anniversary, the walk is back to hit the town. What makes it special is the route covers about 20 heritage sites along George Town Heritage Trail.

The starting and ending point this year was at Times Square at Jalan Datuk Keramat.

I went with my mum, sis and Tze Huey. I met some old friends and school teachers too. Of course The Star journalists as well especially Kow Kwan Yee. Kwan Yee is my snior from UTAR and she's doing well in The Star. I'm proud of her everytime i see her byline is the newspaper.

What was shocking is knowing that my not-so-athletic secondary school friend, Nixon Lai Chia Huey also took part and he’s in the 10KM Competition category. Unexpectedly I was met my Form 6 friends who are not kaki marathon, Lee Khai Keat and her girlfriend, Michelle Ooi don’t know what.

Every year I joined the Competition category which is 10KM. But this year for the very first time, I took part in 6KM Non-Competition category. Why? Because the participation fee is damn expensive for 10KM. More than RM10 ok. So not worth it. At the end of they race, they give you a certificate of participation only, not even a finishing medal. All this while RM10 only ok..

I never wanted to join Non-Competition category because I felt the category is so not competitive and 6KM is like so childish. Hahaaha. But it’s ok, it’s worth the money I paid. RM10 for 6KM this year. And the freebies we got are getting lesser. Seriously!

Khoo Teng Shin and her sister Khoo Sher Rynn (yes I remember their names) took part as well this year. Their dad was there, but don’t know where is aunty. This blur Teng Shin is so mensiasuehkan. He is a guy. It’s a he. He joined the Men’s Category. But he got the number and color for the Female’s Category. He finished the race in the Top 15 but too bad, at the finishing line, his sex ‘changed’. Hahaha. At the end, apa pun tarak!

One thing special about Starwalk this year is we were a passport with photos and descriptions of heritage sites along the route. We have to get a chop for each of the site in order to qualify for a special lucky draw by Sunshine Times Square.

Besides, more shutterbugs this year as there’s a photography competition on Starwalk Penang 2011 with the theme ‘Happy Starwalk Moments @ Heritage Spots’. Walaueh DSLR everywhere! I was busy shooting here and there. I am so gona join this contest. But.. I don't have close-up photos on people la. I totally forgotten about the theme. aiyah.. Don't care, i'll just try my luck la.

There were 150 lucky draw prizes. We didn’t get anything..again. we waited until 1pm plus plus. It rained heavily when the lucky draw was going on but when the session ends, the rain also stop. Cilakak betul! We were all wet waiting for our lucky number to be called ok..

Ok.. sign out and good night.

*got a lot of photos to share but lazy to upload la..

Lee Chong Wei vs Lin Dan: Yonex BWF World Championship 2011 Final

Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei celebrating his win against China's Chen Jin 21-13,21-9 during the semi-final match. Starpic by KAMARUL ARIFFIN/The Star

Wohooo Lee Chong Wei is in the final! Yes!! Yes! I knew he can make it! He beat Chen Jin in the semi-final last night. 21-13 21-9. I was watching the first match but I have to leave the house for dinner. Chong Wei was a bit slow and cautious la at the beginning but after that, hmmm.. No chance for Chen Jin at all! It’s nice to finally have the chance to watch him play. I missed his matches earlier.

Lee Chong Wei will meet the giant killer and his greatest rival, Lin Dan in the final tonight. Aiyah.. I know this is so gona happen. Some aunty said Chong Wei won’t make it. And even if he does, he will loose to Lin Dan. I was so defensive and I said Chong Wei has improved a lot and he is so good now.

I have confidence that Chong Wei will do his best and create a Malaysian record.

I stayed up till 5am last night to watch Lin Dan play against Peter Gade in another semi-final. The match started at 3am. Peter Gade lost to him but Peter Gade was so strong at heart. He’s quite old. He knows he’s not gona win over Lin Dan but he pushed Lin Dan to the max. Lin Dan lost the first game but managed to get back la. I watched the match until I fell asleep because it’s more than 1 hour. I planned to blog but cannot tahan la, tidur je la.

Lin battled to a 22-24 21-7 21-15 victory to stay in the hunt for his fourth world title.

Tonight the world will comes still again to watch the greatest badminton players on earth fighting for the world title.

It’s the final of Yonex BWF World Championship 2011 between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan.

It’s Chong Wei’s first final in the championship and first time he’s meeting Lin Dan in the championship as well.

Don’t miss it ok. Don’t forget to watch! You can watch it from TV1 or Astro.

I’ve already checked the time for the match. The match is at 12pm London’s time and Malaysian time is 7pm

For those who can't watch it live on tv, can see the livescore from http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=E563A742-DF5A-44B0-8253-B53004FAEB4D&d=20110814

I wont go anywhere tonight. No dates, no concerts no movies. I’ll just stick onto the TV to watch the match.

Lee Chong Wei, all the best!

The nation is supporting you. The Malaysians are cheering for you. We are proud of your achievements.

MALAYSIA BOLEH!

*Actually im a bit worried la. I scared the same thing whch happened to our football team, Harimau Malaya will happened to Lee Chong Wei. We all were so hoping that Harimau Malaya can score and win the match with Singapore and then qualified for World Cup but we lost. All of us were so disappointed and sad. Anyhow, i pray hard that Lee Chong Wei can make it la.*

*You people pray hard la he can win, then maybe Najib will give us a public holiday. Then all of us can have a longer Hari Raya break. hahaaa.*
