my first watermarked photo!

Finally.. finally! Oh yes finally after being nagged so long by caring friends to have my own watermark to protect my photos from being used without permission and without proper credits, today I made my own watermark. wohooo sexy!

Ayooo creating n putting a watermark is really hard when you are not good in technology. So mahuan.  But what is not hard when you start learning them, right?

Now I know how to put a watermark. And jeng jeng jeng let me show off a bit my first photo with my simple watermark and it’s a panorama shot! How? Comment a bit, not on the photo, but the watermark. Er.. like that lo. Nothing special also..

It took me at least 30 minutes just to learn and put that GREAT watermark ok!

Aiyah this blog’s design is too small for my panorama shot la. Click at this link to view it bigger lah. http://oce-thephotojournalist.blogspot.com/2012/02/panorama-first-watermark.html

Yes OCE is proud of himself cuz he made it by his own effort. Aih.. you know, if you really want something, it’s really possible to get it if you put your heart into what you are doing.

Haih.. so now I have to watermark all the good photos before I post it online ah? Aiyah.. Someone help me do la…

*NOW YOU ARE YOU GOING TO STEAL THIS PHOTO? eh u can take away the watermark ka??*

Penang Bridge, 21KM, i am coming!

It’s time. about 1 hour from now I will be running on Penang Bridge, a marathon event that will be endorsed by the Malaysia’s Book of Records.

My heart pumping fast just by just looking at the 21km marathon route. Still couldn’t believe that I am running Half Marathon 21km.

This is my first time joining half marathon for any running competition.

I never felt as excited, nervous and anxious as before in any running competition. I couldn’t sleep thinking of the run later.

I must thank Edmund for the inspiration. It’s because of his challenge that I joined Half Marathon. But sadly he can’t join because he is hospitalized for denggi. I will complete the run for him.

The starting time is so crazy. 3am is the starting time. 3am is a sleeping time la aduih. We are givern 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete the race in order to get a certificate and a finishing medal.

Someone I know is running blindfolded for a charity. Please donate some money for his noble cause. Click this link to know more http://www.facebook.com/blindfoldmarathon

I bought a Powerbar just nw. . It’s an energy booster. It contains 9g of proein. Uhhh.. that’s high. I need it for my run later. The price is high too. RM9 for something like Cloud 9. What to do.. Wa bo lat ma.

I slept for only 1 hour. Just hope that I wont fall asleep while running.

Oh ye OCE! Go go go!

Im coming Allianz Penang Bridge International Marathon 2011. It’s about the heart n mind. C u guys on the bridge. Watch out for the runner with a DSLR!

All the best everyone!

I am not aiming to be the champion, What I want is to just complete the race in 3 hours.

I'm gona appear in NTV7 news at 7pm later =p

Good things are floating my life today.

Definitely not to boast, I am so thankful to those who made these happened.

After few times of rejection and continuous support and guidance from helpful seniors, finally, finally.. I'm given the chance to do stand upper and voice over.

This means i'm gona appear on NTV7 Malay news at 7pm today.

This is so unexpected and unbelievable!

I'm right now waiting nervously for the news to be aired in the newsroom. fuh..

Some of the seniors already congratulate me and they are so excited. Hahaha. Thanks Nadia, Sarah and Bob.

Thanks to Julie for encouraging me to try to do stand upper after I told her that the editors didn’t used it before. She helped me a lot in arranging the points and my presentation.

Thank you too to Kak Ron. She’s so high today. She freak me off with her harimau betina voice. But she is nice la. She can be playful when she’s not stress. I was so shocked when she’s ok to used my stand upper.

And I’m totally shocked.

I still have a lot to learn and a lot more to improve.

This experience is gona push me to do better.

Afterall, my internship is going to end soon. I’m leaving at the end of August.

Ok people let us countdown. Ehhee.

Pictures that tell a story

* An article about me was published in The Star yesterday. (Thursday 14/7/2011) hehehe. ok i'm not boasting ok. But good news like this, i should share around. After all, it's good for my portfolio and resume. =p

PHOTOGRAPHY buff Oh Chin Eng simply loved to take pictures of older people, portraying the simplicity of their life.
And one of his many shots titled “Home”, featuring an old Sikh man with a long beard, won him the third prize under the individual portrait category at the KL International Photo Award 2011 in April.

Prize Winner: Oh win third prize in an international photography contest with a picture portraying rich Sikh cultural elements.

Oh said he preferred to work with older folk as the subject of his photography.
“There’s a special bonding between me and them, especially when they smile for my camera.”
In the case of the old Sikh man, who was clad in a sarong, the picture captured was a production of assimilation in the plural society, said Oh.
He said he decided to document the Sikh community because they were lesser acknowledged in photography although they have a rich and diversified culture .
Up close: Oh taking an outdoor photo shoot at a park.

“Photographing them was a way to start a conversation and the shots recorded tell a story on its own,” he said.
Oh simply wanted his pictures of old people to be a medium of communication and to “convey a message of love.”
“I first bought the camera way back in 2000 to take part in a national-level photography competition organised by the Red Crescent Society,” he said.
He said winning the competition with the first merit prize had encouraged him to take up photography seriously.
Oh picked up photographyon his own.
“I observed how people composed their pictures to improve my skill,” he said.
Aside from actively taking pictures, Oh from Penang was also actively involved in non-governmental organisations such as Penang Heritage Trust, Anak-Anak Kota and rts-Ed.
“The participation in such organisations had widened my perspective in photography,” he said.
Oh strongly believes in unpretentious act, which was the essence in documenting people in his photography to reflect the stories behind each of his subjects.
“I would never ask people to pose for pictures. Being natural is definitely the best expression,” he said.
Early this year, he won the first prize of a photography competition organised by Kwong Wah Yit Poh. His photographs have also appeared in the The Star’s Thumbnail column since 2006.
On his future goals, Oh, a final year journalism undergraduate, plans to be a photojournalist.
“I hope my experiences and awards would help me land a job when I graduate,” he said.

Pancutan Sperma Asid (Bersih 2.0)

I was there at the Bersih 2.0 rally. I witnessed many things that you don’t get to read in newspapers, see in television or hear in radio. If this is real democratic country, let us have freedom of writing. This sajak is my expression. Don’t tell me what to say and what not so say.

Pancutan Sperma Asid

Aku di sana
Berdiri megah dengan isteri
Digantung di leher kecil
Dibalutnya dengan kondom ungu dan putih
Khuatir dicemari sperma berasid

Hati berdebar menanti cekupan
Kaki meggeletar
Bersedia cabut melintang-pukang

Kemudian kau mara
Datang bagaikan ombak
Mara umpama orang hilang akalnya
Gila meraung-raung diserang hysteria

Langkah mu gagah
Menongkah arus kebangkitan rakyat
Di lautan demokrasi
Benteng perpaduan ummah dicerobohi
Kau maki-maki puki
Meneranjang laki-laki
Orang tua, kanak-kanak dan wanita
Pun tidak kau lepasi

Jentera tsunami mu menyerang liar
Trak merah mengganas menghala mereka
Masuk menyelam dalam semangat kuning
Yang berjalan menghayun chota dan baton
Yang gila memukul membabi buta

Lalu tanah merdeka digempar
Siren berkumandang
Gas pemedih mata ditembak-tembak
Meriam air masuk gelanggang
Kau memancut tanpa segan silu
Sperma-sperma asid mu melekat di sini situ
Puas kau memancut
Hilang segala rasa gian

Sperma-sperma asid mu cukup beracun
Yang celik menjadi buta
Rasa cili membakar mata
Cili paling pedas ku pernah rasa
Orang-orang menjadi ayam
Lari berkeliaran
Keluar dari reban

Kau melangkah gagah
Menongkah arus kebangkitan rakyat
Di lautan demokrasi
Benteng perpaduan ummah dicerobohi
Kau maki-maki puki
Meneranjang laki-laki
Orang tua, kanak-kanak dan wanita
Pun tidak kau lepasi

Yang aman kau binasakan
Yang haram kau halalkan
Yang betul kau salahkan
Yang baik kau jahatkan
Yang putih kau hitamkan

Jahanam kau si iblis bermuka manusia
Makan minum atas duit orang Malaysia
Tapi kau berkawat di jalanan
Buat macam tanah ini kau punya

Kelakuan mu bagai orang gasar
Mengagungkan yang jahil dan korup
Memalukan bangsa dan negara

Kau memperkosa keamanan negara
Dicabuli kau kehormatan mereka

Yang berjalan muhibah di tiang hak manusia
Keselamatan mereka kau nodai
Badan mereka kau pijak
Dipenyek-penyek
Direnyuk-renyuk

Kau memancut kau menembak
Sperma-sperma asid mu
Mencari-cari yang tidak berdosa
Kerana kau kotor
Kebersihan Bersih 2.0 menyilau mata mu

Kau
Si pancut yang batangnya tegar
Tegak memancut membabi buta
Air mani asid liar di udara
Merobek suara keramat gegak gempita

Puas kah anda
Melepas nafsu kebinatangan
Menikmati saat-saat pancutan

Melihat ku dan komrad-komrad lain
menanggung sakit derita
Gara-gara kerakusan kuasa mu
Sakit pedih gila lu tau kah

Nasib baik kami tidak mengandung
Dipancut dipercik disimbah sperma-sperma asid mu
Kalau pun benar
Pasti anaknya gugur

Terima kasih si pahlawan bangsat
Kau membuka mata Rakyat yang melihat
Warna sebenar kerajaan demokrat

more than words

I'm touched and honoured when someone special said something so motivating, appreciating and true and yet insinuating.

She said:

You are a person with confidence. If not, how can you be SRC president? You are afraid of nothing. Anything also you’ll do. You explore everything. You bokiasi.

Well, i guess it's kind of true the part where she said im confident.

Thanks Tze Huey. xoxox

my first video

Jeng jeng jeng!!

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to my first ever video production!!

Wahahaha.

I’m feeling so excited because this is the first time I make a video using a software all by myself. I am not an IT person. I’m bad in technology. That’s why I used about 2 hours to make this video. The Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 is so different from what I used to see few years ago. I think it has been upgraded.

So what’s so great about this video? It’s great because my effort paid off. I feel so satisfied because I finished what I’ve started.

This video is not shot by video camera. It’s actually a photo slideshows and I made it into a video so that I can post it on Youtube.

105 photos are used to make this video. I shot these photos back in 31/12/2009. It was 5am in the morning and I stood in front of Masjid Kapitan Keling in Penang for 30 minutes, waiting for the moon to set.

And I was so lucky because the moon was at its fullest that night, which was also the 15th of the Chinese Lunar Calendar.

Besides than photography, I actually enjoy videography too. I want to be in the video and I want to produce video or movie too. The problem is I don’t have the tools to make it happen. Video camera is too expensive. Plus, my camera can’t take video.

Today I’m the producer, director, cameraman, and also the editor of my video. Hahaha.

So let’s enjoy this short video clip of “Moonset on the Last Day of 2009”.

QUOTE of the day

If suddenly you have a big amount of money, don’t spend all. Use 2/3 of it and save the rest. You’ll need it one day.

fly away

This is just a reminder la. If it’s applicable to you, then use it lo. But I know I need this reminder so badly.

Don’t fly away after you have some achievement. Always be humble. Don’t get carried away. Stick to your true self. Don’t get blinded with money, materials and fame.

I think I fly off a little bit since I get so many appraisals. I’m so overwhelmed and touched you know.

People are happy with my achievements. I know.

This may be a test my the angkong. Hmm.. cannot! I must not be too proud and show off. I must work harder next time. I must remember where I came from and who had supported me and lend me help all this while.

I pledge that I’ll always be that humble OCE la. Really.. if I got off track, please pull me down.

life is like a battery

well..

life is like a battery YOU KNOW..

it has lifespan. once the battery is out of power, u also DIE lo.

what im saying is, while you can still breath, make use of ur life, do the things that you u always wanted to do, things that u desired for, things that give you lifetime satisfaction, things that are useful to yourself and others.

My life has been so colorful. Yes there are ups and downs but it's a growing up process that comes with great experience. I've tried almost EVERYTHING. I have no regrets.

2010 IS A GOOD YEAR
