reciting a poem again! deklamasi sajak yo!

Oh when was my last post? Last year?

Hahahaha.

Later at 6pm, I'll be reciting a poem/mendeklamasi sajak as one of the performers for Local Democracy Festival Penang launch + busking event. It'll be at Esplanade, on the sidewalk between Medan Selera Renong and the War Memorial. I'll be reading a poem I wrote two years ago after the Bersih 2.0 rally, titled 'Pancutan Sperma Asid'. Hehehe. So damn nervous now. The last time I recited a poem was 8 yrs ago! And for human rights prog like this, Special Branch officers are everywhere. Fuh! Nvm this is the chance for me to express my creative writing. nyeh nyeh nyeh. So come and have fun! There'll be other performances and sales too. =p

stage satisfaction

The highest satisfaction of performing on the stage or live on the street is the cheers, thunderous claps and the audience wide smiles that you’ll remember for long, something that you don’t get everyday. That is priceless, more valuable than the money u earn from the show. =p

*oh how i miss performing again...*

i perform lion dance too

I’m actually a member of a lion dance troupe.

Not many people actually know about it. Hahaa. I guess I don’t have to boast about it right although many people really feel I’m a banana.

Every year during the first and second day of Chinese New Year, I’ll go house to house to perfrom lion dance.

This year, I feel a bit lazy. Furthermore, my brother is not joining me this year. He has to work. I’ve joined the troupe since I was 9. My brother joined in few years later.

I supposed to go for lion dance performance this morning at 7.30am but I woke at 8.45am. damn it man! Aih.. I missed it. I can’t go look for them coz I don’t have any of the member’s hp number. So I’ll go meet them at the makan place in a while.

I never missed performing lion dance everywhere. I guess it’s already my own culture. It’s part of me. I feel so awkward and guilty if I don’t go. It’s the Chinese tradition anyway. If we don’t keep doing it, the art and tradition will die off eventually. I’m proud of myself.

Mum has been very supportive and encouraging all this while. If we don’t go perform, she’ll start questioning. She was not happy this morning. Hahaha.

Lion dance performance is indeed a very tiring activity. At the end of the day, we’ll sweat, bleed, get darker, have blisters and pimples.

But of course, some of the house owners will give us angpau. That’s the best part. The small kids join the troupe because of this pull factor. But as they grow older, angpau does not really matter. They do it for the love of the art, the spirit of Chinese New Year, the sense of belonging and to have fun.

Alright, I’m going off now to produce good music, bring some prosperity to the families and get some angpau hopefully. =p

Mali Tengok Anugerah Juara Lagu Ke-24

1. Aurora (Komposer/ Penulis Lirik/ Penyanyi: Estranged)

2. Tak Mungkin Kerna Sayang (Komposer: Ajai/ Penulis Lirik: Habsah Hassan/ Penyanyi: Alyah)

3. Cinta Adam & Hawa (Komposer: Azmeer/ Penulis Lirik: Loloq/ Penyanyi: Misha Omar)

4. Masih Jelas (Komposer: Aidit Alfian/ Penulis Lirik: Ad Samad/ Penyanyi: Hafiz)

5. Situasi (Komposer/ Penulis Lirik: Sam/ Penyanyi: Bunkface)

6. Pakai Buang (Komposer/ Penulis Lirik: Edry/ Penyanyi: Stacy)

7. Pergi (Komposer/ Penulis Lirik: Pete Teo/ Penyanyi: Aizat)

8. Aku Skandal (Komposer/ Penulis Lirik: Noh/ Penyanyi: Hujan)

9. Rindu Terhenti (Komposer: Aubrey Suwito/ Penulis Lirik: Tinta/ Penyanyi: Tomok)

10. Aku Rindu Sayang Kamu (Komposer/ Penulis Lirik: Yuzai/ Penyanyi: Black)

11. Bengang (Komposer: Amir/ Penulis Lirik: Sheikh Qalam/ Penyanyi: Akim)

12. Dan Sebenarnya (Komposer/ Penulis Lirik: Yuna, Paan, Efry, Adil/ Penyanyi: Yuna)

13. Kau Aku (Komposer/ Penulis Lirik/ Penyanyi: Aizat)

14. Bencinta (Komposer: Audi Mok/ Penulis Lirik/ Penyanyi: Faizal Tahir)

Man to Watch Out by CNN.

Dia merupakan antara pengacara wanita paling berjaya di Malaysia.I kenallah seorang yang special ni, many people say she looks like Cheryl Samad. Haha! some even say that she looks like Nicol David. Haha! This someone and Cheryl Samad both hitam manis, sweet, cute, chomel, kecik, dan petah berbicara.

I doakan this special person dapat jadi pengacara TV one day. =p

Memang best ah dapat tengok these marvellous and talented artistes perform live on the stage.

2.Situasi-Bunkface

3.Pergi-Aizat

4.Rindu Terhenti-Tomok

5.Aku Rindu Sayang Kamu-Black

6.Bengang-Akim

7.Dan Sebenarnya-Yuna

8.Kau Aku-Aizat

9.Bencinta-Faizal Tahir

I watched Hujan performed before at Hard Rock Hotel, Penang. Someone I know pula muka memang sebijik macam Yuna. She’s now also in UiTM, universiti yang Yuna belajar dulu. I start to listen to Yuna's song because of someone i used to called sayang la.. She can sing Yuna songs very well.

Who says non-Malays tak tengok rancangan berbahasa Melayu? Who says non-Malays tak patut or gila or tak ada standard sebab tengok rancangan Melayu?? BULLSHIT!

I dengar and nyanyi lagu Melayu. So? Does that make me less Chinese? Stuffs with Bahasa Malaysia or regarding Malays are not for Malays only. Bukalah minda. This is Malaysia, we share our uniqueness together. Malaysia belongs to Malaysians and not Malay, Chinese or Indian. It doesn’t belong to Muslims, Buddhists or Hindus as well.

Kalau semua orang sepakat, hormat, memahami dan give and take, taklah asyik gaduh je.

Anyway, luckily my semester hasn’t start, if not tak bolehg la I tgk AJL24. Hehe. I wanted to go KL n watch but it’s too far la. mahal tau duit bas. Lagipun ada benda belum settle kat penang. Rumah pula berperang.

Anyway, I wish one day ada non-Malays yang dapat masuk AJL n get one of the awards. Best nya dapat perform on the stage sebesar tu where the whole Malaysia can c u.

I WANA ACHIEVE THAT!

Are you ready people?!!

LET’S ROCK YOUR TV!!

Ko-Tai Penang Musical Drama

27/12/2009 Armenian Street 8.15pm

2/1/2010 Padang Kota Lama 8.15pm

3/1/2010 Reservoir Garden, Air Itam 8.15pm

Ko-Tai Penang is a 40-minute musical dance-drama which traces Penang’s journey from Merdeka till the twenty-first century. It features the sung stories of multiethnic Penang residents, some of whom have been displaced as a result of development and the repeal of the Rent Control Act.

Ko-Tai Penang captures the rhythms and sounds of street life and the trades of the diverse communities of Penang through song and dance. It highlights the changes in the cultural scene in Penang through the eyes of ronggeng dancers and street storytellers.

This performance is a sequel to the highly acclaimed community performances entitled Kisah Pulau Pinang (2006) and Ronggeng Merdeka (2007) which traced Penang’s early history and featured Penang’s road to Merdeka respectively.
